The Mission

1986 / Virgin / 49 mins

With a heavily religious tone, and some gorgeous passages, The Mission is one of Morricone's more famous scores, and for good reason. Choir, flutes, and guitar all add a beautiful edge to the proceedings, bringing to life some captivating themes. The album does takes a darker, more sombre turn towards the end, as necessitated by the film. Overall it's a listening experience that's not to be missed.
