Trevor Rabin
1999 / Varèse Sarabande / 31 mins
This is music that manages to achieve a rare balance between violence and beauty. Harsh, chopping rhythms typify the sharks, effectively conveying their menacing presence. Yet, the album also has a lush and heroic side, Rabin employing choir and synths to accentuate the sound of the orchestra. The album is quite short, but this is one of the more satisfying contemporary creature feature scores.
