The Untouchables

1987 / A&M / 40 mins

True to form, Morricone provides the score with a unique sound that includes piano, trombones, synth pads and even music box. It suits the film well, although it comes across as a little anachronistic. The standout cue is the triumphant and exhilarating theme that opens the album, slowly building into a whirlwind of strings and horns. Beyond this is an enjoyable mixture of alternatingly beautiful and tense music.
